OBSOLETE MUSIC TECHNOLOGY - Since the Accident (EMPHASIS RECORDINGS)

I was sitting in the studio with the lights off one night, a random memory popped into my head as I was arranging the music for what would become 'Since the Accident'. Fading into each other are dual TB-303 bassline samples, programed to play two different patterns, held together as one by a thick, lush reverb, over whirling TR-707 drums. Drawing from the darkness of the room and in my heart, chords emerge over the drum and bass. With all the parts in full swing, the track takes me back to an event, one night in Chicago, in the 80s, called 'Since the Accident!' I swear I could have heard this track at that party. This is my homage to such a ground breaking party at the time. [Steven Tang]
