Lee Purkis aka In Sync, one of the founders of the legendary Fat Cat record shop, returns for 2006 with a devastating EP on his new Fortune8 label. Purkis is well known for his works on Irdial, 10th Planet and Peacefrog and is heralded by those who know as one of the key figures ever to emerge from the UKï¿½s techno scene. The tracks on this new, untitled release are solo productions which Purkis made after he split from the 10th Planet Records label, inspired by listening to lots of electronic film sound tracks at the time. So while the underlying reason seems to stem back to the dance sound, the real fuel came from listening to musicians and bands such as John Carpenter, Goblin, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Brian Eno & Robert Fripp. The result is really a soundtrack that represents all these elements and what they mean to the producer.The music was recorded using mainly analogue synths with the exception of a couple of digital units to add a bit of raw edge. None of the analogue components were processed digitally at any stage, even the lacquer was cut in true analogue form. Every track was cut from the original 4 track tapes to retain the old style sound and also to obtain the best sound level possible. It definitely gives the record a warm and spacious feel which is the complete opposite when the sound is compared to digital records that are being released today. One of the best UK techno releases for a seriously long time.Single vinyl edition. An initial run of test copies of 888-01 were pressed onto red vinyl, before being changed to orange for the production run for the 888-01/888-02 double 12" set. These are from the original run of red wax. VERY LIMITED COPIES.
